When the World is a Hot Mess

June 18, 2020

It’s so hard to hear You, God, when the world screams loud. We are a mess down here. Every time we think things are settling down we open our eyes to new chaos. Your daughters are weary. Our spinning minds and aching hearts need Your touch.

It’s so hard to walk in peace when conflict abounds. Arguments. Opinions. Confusing and conflicting information. Messages with uncomfortable undertones. Hashtags and slogans crowding our streets, our screens, and our minds. Statistics and reports pointing first one way, then another.

We are hanging onto truth by our fingernails, Lord, trying with desperation to align what we’re hearing with what we know to be true of You and Your Kingdom. Working to decipher all the words, holding them up against your Word.

We’re tired. Battle weary. We’re anxious. Unsure. In all this racket, how can we hear You?

“Come away.”

What? Come away?

“Come away to Me.”

How do we do that? We can barely keep up with daily events and absorb all the “must read” articles and posts, books and opinions from thought leaders and spiritual leaders and people we have no idea who they are and if we should trust what they say or think. We don’t have time to discern one proposed thought from one source before we’re facing another from someone else. And You want us to come away?

“I do. Just like My Son did. Many times Jesus left the crowds. Hit pause and walked away.  He had such a short time on earth to fulfill His ministry and purpose. To heal, teach and save. But He came away to be with Me. Often.”

“You want peace? I have that. You want understanding? I have that too. I can talk to you through the noise. But I’m having a hard time holding your attention. I desire that you come away to Me. Where there are no distractions. No next things calling. Come as often as you need for as long as it takes. To rest. To heal. To learn. To remind yourself who I AM. And who you are in Me.

“If the Son of God needed time away from the world and demands of life to be with Me, just He and I in sweet communion, perhaps you do, too.

“No voice is more important than Mine. No source of wisdom or knowledge, deeper than Mine. No thought or idea or suggested way higher than Mine. No love more healing than Mine. The more you spend time in my Presence, the more I can reveal these things to you, and the quieter the world’s voices become. The clearer Truth stands, exposing lies. The brighter My Light shines diminishing confusion and darkness.

“Come away to Me. I wait with patience to have treasured fellowship with you, my beloved. I will see you through this difficult time. I will whisper Words to you of profound wisdom, deep truth, and deeper love. Come away.”
